About

Doris Anderson started her role as Frostburg Baseball mom in 1975 when her son was a freshman, and it continued until her passing in 2018. Most of you know that her son, Jimmy, died of leukemia a few years after his graduation. Along with the support of friends of the FSU Baseball community, Doris was able to keep Jimmy’s memory alive through various campaigns and ultimately with the naming of the FSU Baseball locker room.

The Doris L. Anderson Memorial Baseball Scholarship was created to further honor and celebrate her good work for the Baseball program. Those who knew Doris realize that her humble nature would preclude her from ever anticipating such an honor. This endowment will generate funds to be used strictly for an incoming or current player who exhibits financial need and academic success – two things that are pillars of Doris’ character. She provided help to those in need and was an extreme advocate of education.

Please join us in celebrating a woman who is deeply missed by her family, friends, and the FSU community.
